Caryl felt extremely honored to be one of six artists invited to create a folio for Anderson Gallery: 45 Years of Art on the Edge, the recently published definitive history of VCU’s venerable art gallery. Her humorous piece concerns being rejected from the Anderson Gallery’s 1978 Student Fine Arts Show.

Chic London magazine infringe features Caryl’s collection of hair locks, in Emma de Clercq’s well illustrated article.

My thirteen new Exorcism of Page 13 collages look great at the Everhart Museum. They’re pictured here with works by Jeffrey Kent in the foreground and Lisa Kokin on the left wall.

Stacked, shredded, or deconstructed, the artworks in “Between the Covers: Altered Books in Contemporary Art” will change how you see books forever! Caryl joins Buzz Spector, fellow VCU-alum Scott McCarney, and other national and international artists in this exhibition curated by Sarah Tanguy.

Plans were underway for Caryl to exhibit thirteen “Exorcism of Page 13” collages at the Everhart Museum in Scranton when the curator realized that she’d made a serious mistake–Caryl’s existing collages didn’t meet the show’s criteria because they included pages from magazines. It was blow for Caryl to learn that, in order to participate, she’d have to create thirteen new works–using only books–in five weeks. Finding the 624 books to exorcise was daunting, but she accomplished the task without harming a single library book. Come and see!
